& continued with all sorts of Guns until 10 a.m. many wonderful escapes of both ships & men. two men killed near our "Dug out". I had a trying time as I was engaged in trying to find new positions for two of Johnston's Guns. Sunday May 2nd. Quiet night - few shells this morning. up to 8 a.m. Visited 2nd Bn. and saw Guns emplaced on Knoll in Valley on right of present position. Made reconnaissance with G.O.C. to find place for 2 Guns on 400 plateau. In afternoon got 2 Guns of BROWNS up a most difficult hill side. 400 feet high slopes in some places over 60 degrees in time to support New Zealanders [Page] 13
