Battery to 29th Div. South. Firing going on all night but not affecting us on BEACH. Tuesday May 4th BROWNE and Col. MCKAYS request last night moved two guns to open fire on Enemy trenches at dawn but then found he was right in the open. I stopped him firing as it would have meant most serious loss. Posted cable to wife through BASE - "BOTH WELL" In afternoon ordered Col. Johnston to emplace 2 of PHILLIPS Guns on BROWNES left. This has been a quiet day. Heard today that DEAL Bn R. M. L.
