of Infy. Trenches all along our positions with Dug outs, Shelters & Graves in reverse slopes & nullahs in rear. The men seem quiet confident & ready for the Enemy. they are looking well. We are all well fed, but fresh water is scarce as it all has to come from ships for drinking but we wash in sea water. BROWNE engaged Enemy Trenches & M. Gun emplacements at 450 yds. he had to run up his guns in open to crest, fire 14 or 15 rounds & withdraw before enemy could return fire. he got very good effect.
