Gave instructions for forward overhead cover to be given to 18ps Gun emplacements. Heavy Shell fire going on during the Afternoon. Got Mervyn down ready for Telephone Class on Monday morning July 19th Inspected CADDYS- BROWNS- STEWRTS 5"- 4-7 Gun. No 2 Sect ARTILLERY Rd. met O/C 3rd F. A. Bde. Enemy quiet until about 6 p.m. Aeroplane observing for us today. very hot. July 20th Inspected BURGESS- STEWARTS- HUGHES 4"- 7" & No 1 6" How. Batterys - also selected with Maj STEWART positions for another 5" Howitzer Battery. Afterwards decided on ROAD & route to enable our Guns to get out from right of our position to valley between our right & HOLLY SPUR & then onto the Road running to KABA TEPE & MAIDOS. 'X' It is amazing the length of tunnels gaps + trenches constructed by the Light Horse Regt on the right in their advancing operations against GUN RIDGE. 'X' Hubert PARKER left me today to take up his duties as A.D.C. to the G.O.C. 'X' Met Bgd. Gen R. A. & Lt. Col. HOPE JOHNSTON at 4- 7 emplacement. 'X' Meryvn HOBBS has been appt Af.
