to let me know as soon as papers arrived from Cairo, or if they did not would get me boarded in about a week. Called & saw Gen Walker at Hospital 17 Park Lane from 2.30 until 5 p.m. Dec. 10th. Called at Wandsworth Hospital to see Newmarch, also saw Hodgson Col White, A.A.M.C. & Capt Stacey. Bgd. Gen A.E. Marchant called to see me in the evening (he is in R.M.) Major Hurst & Capt. Hurst came down & stayed until Sunday evening. Dec. 14. Called on Col. Buckley to see if anything about me had come to hand. rec'd wire from Lord Chamberlain to attend Buckingham Palace to be invested with C.B. by H.M. the King on Wednesday 15th. Dec. 15 Attended Buckingham Palace & was invested with C.B. by H.M. the King at 11.45 a.m. Called on Sir Newton Moore & lunched with him at Savoy House. long talk with him about the way things were being managed with the War. Dec. 16th. Met Col Rosenthal at Col. Buckley's office & got from him an account of his visit to the Front (Loos) in France. also saw Col Buckley - no news of my medical papers (very seedy this night.) 126
