interview with regard to various matters affecting equipment & training of Div Art. Friday 28th Office & interview with G.O.C. Went out to ground near Rifle Range to experiment with new method of draught for 18 pds & wagons in heavy sand. Method idea of Maj Anderson who accompanied me test satisfactory, authority requested to provide same for Div Art. Authority also asked for portable platform plates for 18 pds in heavy sand. Saturday 29th Inspected 3rd F.A. Bde in Battery drill & manouvre. result satisfactory Sunday 30th Inspected lines & samples plates, etc. prepared by Artificer Cameron for platform for 18 pds. Monday 31st Inspected 4th & 6th Batteries 2nd F.A. Bde. Made arrangements with G.O.C. for Reconnaissance for Artillery positions Canal defences held by 1st Aust Div. called on O/C 2nd F.A. Bd Tuesday Feby 1st Inspected No 6 Baty, 2 F.A. Bde. Left for Ismailia with G.O.C. by 1 p.m. train. Put up for night at Regt House Ismailia. had dinner with Gen Nichols B.G.R.A. Met Major Wisdom Interview with B.G.R.A. re various Artillery matters but could get no information from him. Afterwards called with him on Gen C.B. White, B.G.G.S.
