Monday March 27th Fine day. Had boxing match on board between one of our fellows & a sailor who won on points. A very uncomfortable day as we are in a very dangerous Zone. Just before it got quite dark stopped by a French Destroyer gave us a bit of start though. Tuesday, Mar 28th Reached Toulon at 6 a.m. only to be ordered to Marseilles reached there 1130 Cold Windy & cheerless but thank God out of danger, 2nd Bde Sent to LA. VALENTINE where the 1st Bde are. Put up with Bde Major & A.D.C. at GRAND HOTEL. Wednesday 29th Called at Base Office, reported to Base Commd & A.A.P.M. & got permission to Sleep at Hotel. unable to get car to go to LA VALENTINE. 3rd F.A. Bde arrived, all sent to LA FOURNIER except RIGGALLS Battery, which has gone to LA VALENTINE Thursday 30th 0930 Went by Car to Camp at LA VALENTINE inspected billets (with O/C 1st Bde) of 1st & 2nd Bdes. 1430 inspected Camp of 3rd [Page] 31
