SAILLY at 12.30 p.m.. I have had a very happy Holiday. I think perhaps one of the happiest Weeks in my life principally in the company of my Wife. I am very sad & sick at heart now it is over. June 24th Inspected Wagon lines Left Group. Wet in morning fine afternoon. - June 25th Visited Right & Left Group, H.Qs Went with O/C left Group to inspect new position for 23rd Batt. (my ankle injured in London is very sore) fine day. June 26th At conference at BAILLEUL with B.G.R.A. Anzac with regard to transfer of 1st Aust. Div Art to a new Section of Defence In Afternoon at R. Group H.Qs re Artillery Support to Infantry Raids right Group. (Showery all day) June 27th Reconnaissance with O/C 2nd Art Bde & Staff Captain for Batt positions in new Section of Defence we are to occupy Showery all day June 28. Inspecting Batteries in R. Group & Sect of 24th Batt & 103 How Batt emplaced in 61st Div Area. O/C 3rd Bde accompanied me. (Wet dreary day - & Suffering good deal of pain from my injured ankle.
