glad to see me. It was intensely cold. I was very cold in bed & there was heavy cannonading going on all night long, the 4th Div attacking the enemys trenches at 10 p.m. & succeeded in getting in & capturing about 80 prisoners. Feby 5th Fine bright & frosty. Engaged in Office work & picking up the threads. Went with Col Wagstaff to see Gen Elliot Comdr 15th Infy Bde about an attack on Sunray trench etc. Have got another cold & a little bit Homesick today. X Gen B. Browns kitchen burnt down last night through cook putting Tin of petrol instead of water on the fire Cook & his mate badly burned.
L'. Col Davies from Boulder came to see me today, to tell me he feared the State of his nerves would prevent him carrying on the command of the Bn to which he has been apptd.
