March 24th Fine bright very cold wind - clear To Baupaume to meet G.O.C. 1st Anzac. G.O.C. 2 Div & B.G.G.S to arrange for co operation of 5th Div in an attack by Gen WISDOMS Bde on 26th inst LAGNICOURT. Arranged for us to cover 2nd Div right flank by advancing line of posts & assist with artillery fire. Boche again attacked BEAUMETZ desparate fighting. The Boche lost altogether about 60 killed & 5 prisoners whom I saw on visiting Bgdr Gen Elliotts H.Qs at FREMICOURT. During the afternoon the 15th Bde advanced their line towards BERTINCOURT killing nine Germans. The Artillery also got into them. I visited also Gen TIVEYS & Gen HOBKIRKS H.Qs. X Received message of congratulation from V Army Comndr on the work we have done. March 25th beautiful fine bright spring day. In Office - employed in writing memos appealing to Officers to do their best to prepare the Division for the forthcoming fighting in the open. last night our A.G. searching the Farm captured a wounded prisoner. The Boches bumped into with a patrol & lost 2 or 3 men killed a bombing party then attacked it & lost more men. We are doing well killing the vermin every day - but bad luck they have brought down 4 of our planes on our "front" today. [Page] 21
