cold & frosty with high wind Apl. 12th Bright cold morning strong wind blowing rained hard from 2.p.m nearly all night. No further progress reported. Inspecting Roads in Afternoon with C.R.E. Apl. 13th Some rain early in morning fine after. Inspecting Infantry Transport lines & D.A.C. also Infantry Camps in morning. 'X' In Afternoon presentation of Decorations. (I received my Decoration of Serbian White Eagle) & medal ribbons by Gen BIRDWOOD & presentation of new Officers to him. G.S.O.1 L'. Col Wagstaff went on leave at 11. a.m. Apl. 14th Fine bright day cold - high wind overcast at times very fine afternoon. Received news that so far 15000 Boches 200 guns nearly 1500 M.Gs & 100 T.Ms been captured (arras batt? Inspected right Sector of defence works. 2nd Corps line of defence work proceeding satisfactorily. also inspected 59th Bn &11th ? Bn Transport. In Afternoon inspected left sub sector of Corps line of Defence from BANCOURT to BIEFVILLERS - G.S.O.2 Major KING accompanied me. Inspected 32nd Bn (saw O/C L'. Col DAVIES) Camp near GREVILLERS.
