Apl. 26th Fine but dull Inspected the whole (except two of 8th Bde.) Field Kitchens. Cookers of the 8th 14th & 15th Infy Bdes. these were generally well kept externally but many were dirty & ill kept when opened up. Apl. 27th Fine dull. (frost last night) Inspected Kitchens & Cookers 5th Pioneers Bn. also inspected 8th Field Coy. & 15th F. Amb. 'X' Conference of Bde Comder, Bn. Comders, Supply Officers & Bde. Comdrs also A.A.G.M.S. D.A.S.M.G. G.S.O.2 & D.D.M.S.& Comders of all other Div units. to consider best means of carrying out Army Corps Comdrs wishes for a reduction in rations more especially with regard to bread stuffs. It was considered Bread could be reduced to 16 oz. or 12 oz Biscuit, meat to 1 lb per day. cheese to 6 oz per week butter 5 oz per week. Tea by 1/8 oz per issue per diem. Dripping to be saved as much as possible. A further reduction to 14 oz of Bread or 10 oz of Biscuit could be made if Rice or Oatmeal in equivalent nutritave proportions are issued in lieu. Apl. 28th Fine Spring day. Inspecting work. Training 14th in morning & 8th Infy. Bde. in afternoon Attended concert given by 5th Div Concert Company in 14th Infy Bde Church Hut.
