14th Bde & presented prizes - very good show. May 1st A glorious 1st of May. Inspected (& afterwards addressed) 53 & 56 Bns on march & parade with Transport & Cookers - very good & satisfactory show. Conference in afternoon at which Bgdrs Bde Major L.T.M. Officers & some Br Comdrs re employment of L.T.Ms in open warfare. May 2nd Beautiful day. Inoculated pain Typhoid Serum midday. very much off colour. bad night. May 3rd Beautiful day. To AMIENS to have eyes examined by specialist. Very unwell from innoculation Orders recd for 14th Infy Bde to be ready to move May 4th Beautiful warm day. Inspected 16th Infy Bde Transports. In afternoon went to sports meeting a very successful gathering. May 5th Perfect Summer day. The Divisional Horse Show took place to day & was in every way a brilliant success. The Vth Army & the Corps Commanders were both present at the Show ground on our old battle field of TARA HILL & assisted in guiding the Officers Jumping & some of the other principal events [Page] 41
