Boat sailed at 4 p.m. very fine passage apptd O/C Troops. placed note in remark book about difficulty in getting some Officers to wear life belts some senior (Bgdr Gen & staff.) Officers principle offenders. Arrived in London (Victoria 8/30 pm met by Wife Dorothy Mrs Wisdom stayed at Grosvenor. May 29th Fine day thunderstorm in evening. Called at A.I.F H.Qs about 11. Saw Gen McCay & Col Griffith arranged to go to TIDWORTH Tuesday June 5th. May 30th Fine warm day. To Letchworth with Wife Mervyn & Dorothy - very enjoyable few hours with Howard Hurst & Wife. May 31st Fine warm day To Cambridge in afternoon stayed night with Sister & her husband Arthur Clarke my Wife with me. enjoyed the visit. June 1st Fine warm day. Left for London by 10.40 train. lunched with Major VARWELLS Sister & husband Mr. WALLER at a Ladies & Gentlemans Club in Dover Street. Arrived at St. MARGARETS about 4 p.m [Page] 56
