altogether was very helpful & satisfactory from many points of view & I think good will result from it. I shall try & arrange for all Infy. Bgdrs. to visit their training Bns when they are on leave. Left Andover Junct. for London by 4.41 train. arrived Waterloo 6.5 p.m. A.I.F. car waiting & took me to Richmond where I arrived at 6.45. p.m. June 7th (lovely day) To Claras with Wife then to Amys In afternoon on the River with children. June 8th Fine day. Left Charing X by 1.40 p.m train with Col HEARNE Capt HUNN & Lieut HOBBS. (Wife Mrs Wisdom Col. REYNOLDS & Col. BUCKLEY saw me off. good lunch on train. Boat left at 4.20.p.m. Got away by car from BOULOGNE about 7 pm. arrived at D.H.Q near BAPAUME BANCOURT about 10 pm. came back through ARRAS. June 9th Fine day. Near BANCOURT. Div is still in Reserve & under 4th Corps (Lieut Gen WOOLLCOMBE K.C.B. Got hang of things. took over command from Gen TIVEY. At 5th Div Engineers Sports in afternoon. [Page] 59
