POZIERES. Lunched with Bgd Gen Bessel BROWNE. Afterward inspected Gunners of the 5th Aust Div Art at BEHENCOURT. then was present at Gun practice for instruction of Artillery Officers of 5th D.A. at MONTINGNY. July 9. Wet early morning fine after 8. am. present at Battalion exercise between RUBEMPRE & CONTAY by 58th Bn only fair result. more practice necessary. 4. p.m. present at Div Boxing competitions at HENNENCOURT contests thoroughly well arranged & competed for. July 10th Fine cloudy day. 8.30 am. To MIALLY MAILLET to see Battn in attack. (56th) (14th Bde. on this area for training) July 11th Beautiful day. left at 8/30 am. for MAILLY to see two Bns of 8th Infy Bde (29th & 31st) do a trench to trench attack supported by M.T.M fire from 8" A.L.T.M.B.
