Apl. 10th lovely perfect day Left ROUEN for HAVRE at 9.15 am. journeyed by Road near the River Seine via (sentence ends here) It was a most delightful journey through most charming country (for the first 2 hours the most beautiful I have ever seen in France) Reached HAVRE about 11.30 a.m & then discovered the Reinforcement Camp was at HARFLUER through which we had passed. Reached the camp about 12.30 p.m inspected the men mostly[...] casual reinforements were away on route march. not over struck with keeness (sic) of men to get back to their units-invited complaints few of any consequence. . Discussed various matters with our commandant L'. Col BEARDSMORE Col. BRUCHE took notes I was very struck at the comfort in the way of Mess Houses etc for the men the good Kitchen & good food. the whole inspection was quite satisfactory. had hurried lunch at the Officers mess & left for Home at 2.30 p.m. Journeyed by the coast route via[ ] FECAMP - ETRATAPP ST. - VALERIE to DIEPPE where we had Tea most delightful run through most interesting pretty country very good roads. The little Sea port or fishing Towns & Sea side resorts very pretty & picturesque. one seemed to be in another World far away from the War. reached ABBEVILLE at 9. p.m. thence through HESDIN 85
