Augst 18th Very fine day. Inspected 15th Infy. Bde. on route march (G.O.C. Bde present) also 14th F. Coy. A.E. both very satisfactory Went to Bde H.Qs. of 8th & 14th Bdes but only able to see Gen HOBKIRK. Rode along canal bank to AIRE in late afternoon. 'X' posted letters to Darbyshire & M. Mairie. Augst. 19th Beautiful day. Attended church parade 2 Bns 15 - 1 - 14th Bdes & Pioneer Bn on Gen Elliott near SERCUS. General BIRDWOOD attended & presented medals afterwards. I afterwards visited Gen HOBKIRK & Bgd. Gen TIVEY at their H.Qs. Rode to AIRE in afternoon. Bosche aeroplanes bombing round about 10.p.m. Augst. 20th Very fine day. Saw Major THOMPSON & Lieut RAMSEY of 53rd Bn with regard to charge by Bn Comdr of taking Horses off the lines for private use contrary to orders & being absent from church parade. When ordered G.O.C. 14th Infy. Bde. O/C 53rd Bn & A.A. & Q.M.G. present at the time officers were paraded Major Thompson I severely censured. L'. Ramsey censured. 10/30.am.
