went to 1st Anzac & saw M.G.G.S. General White re. our move into the line shortly. Sept. 2nd Wet in morning fine afternoon & night To AIRE with C.R.E to see 15 F. Coy. bridge building with various types of steel military bridges much impressed with possibilities of new INGLIS bridge. In afternoon called on Bgd Gen ELLIOT Comdg. 15th Infy Bde & L'. Col. Scott administering 14th Infy. Bde re. training in new attack & defence formation for open warfare. Dined with Gen BIRDWOOD in the evening at LA MOTTE. Col WAGSTAFF accompanied me. A great deal of Bombing from Bosche aeroplanes & shelling from 9" Guns around the neighbourhood. none of our people hurt but several casualties in St. OMER. Sept. 3. beautiful day.
