I gave them. Lord LOCKE (Bgd. Gen) was one of them Major HARRINGTON - M.G.G.S 2nd Army came to congratulate me on my victory & was most complimentary. The Bosche swine dropped 5 bombs on the 4th Aust Div H.Qs. close to us tonight & killed 3 clerks, wounded 10 O.R. & killed 4 horses. the earth & splinters fell all round me. 'X' I had in Maj. KING this morning for going out in a car without saying where he was off to. During this battle we have fought with & smashed the following Bosche Divisions. 16 Bav. Div 3 Res. Div. 50th Res Div 236 Res. Div. 17th Res Div. 19th Div who were in Russia a week ago. Sept. 29th fine day. Boche attacked early in the night of yesterday but was easily driven off. Fairly quiet night except for quantities of [...] shell dropped over the area. between front system & HOOGE Visited Bgde H.Qs. of 14th & 18th Bdes. at HOOGE saw Gen HOBKIRK & Maj CASEY. everything O.K. I took our U.S. Army friend Major HOPE with me, the first time he had been under fire, for the Bosche as usual was bombarding all round HOOGE & on both sides of the MENIN Rd.
