on the night of the 20th with my Wife & Dorothy in Griffiths beautiful car. All outside was foggy & cold inside so cosy & homely with my loved ones. I can never be happier or prouder of all that has happened than this past happy leave. I have had most pleasurable meetings with my people too. This too is the last time perhaps for a long time, perhaps for ever I have had of being with my boy Mervyn for he has been not only a son but a pal & protection to me through all these last 3 weary years Now he is leaving for India. If only Athol had been with us our joy would have been complete, especially on Xmas day when he was the only one absent. Capt. Hunn dear good fellow was there to dinner with us. [Page] 146
