Afterwards went to final Vict Asstn. football match between 14th & 15th Bdes former were completely outclassed. Then went to No 2 Aust. Gen Hospital saw Col POWELL & the Matron & arranged nurses to attend final Football match at SAMER on Saturday. Jany. 25th Beautiful spring day. 'X' In morning to ETAPLES. the great place for Reinforcements etc for our Armies. rather quaint old place & then went on to see the very near & rather jim crack Sea side place PARIS PLAGE it is nicely situated & I dare say before the war was very gay, but it looked today although in bright sunshine neglected & dejected. TOKAY with its villas, casino & big Hotel must also have been gay & are prettily situated in a wood that would be lovely in Spring & Summer. Inspected some of 53rd Bn (L'. Col Cheeseman present at MENTY on the way back. In Afternoon presented Bde Challenge Cup (& addressed the Bde) to L'. Col Davies on behalf of the 32nd Bn for best Bn in training & general Efficiency & Sports. Afterward the Bde marched past in Col of Route. they looked splendid. Then went to a Stokes trench mortar demonstration showing use of phosphorus bombs against Air Craft etc I think there is a good deal in it. have ordered further experiments to be made & the Bomb used this time in the line against Air Craft. Major Casey & Lt. Walker are responsible for the idea. [Page] 152
