March 15th Beautiful bright spring morning cold fair vis. To Patrol & Scout School to inspect & spoke to students (Div School) To Reconnoitered Army Zone on rear of Div Sector with G.S.O.1 & C.R.A. selected two positions for Bde. battle. O.Ps. or command posts one at SPANBROEKMOLEN one near Bde H.Qs. at S. MIDLAND Fm & an Art. O.P on HIll 63 Bosche H.V. Gun shelling round here about 10. to 11.30.p.m. but spotted & shut up by 22nd Corps Heavies & bombing sqdn March 16 Another beautiful fine day, fair vis. With G.O.C. 14th Aust. Infy Bde. visited H.Qs. 54th 55th 53rd Bns Then made a reconnaissance for selection of battle Command posts for left Sub Sector. In Afternoon visited 8th Bde H.Qs. March 17th Very fine Spring morning, fair vis. To Church parade of 59th & 60th Bns at KEMMEL then to presentation of M.M. to men of various raiding detachments - by Gen Birdwood. Gen Birdwood afterwards visited KEMMEL CLUB. L'. Col. Drake BROCKMAN came to see me. March 18 Beautiful Sunny day indifferent visibility With B.M. Div Art. inspected 49th 50th 51st 113th & 55th Batts Div Art noticed & pointed out several important things that reqd attention At my request B.G.G.S. came here in Afternoon & agreed to my proposals or suggestions for a one central place of readiness for Reserve Bde - continued Pge 171
