Boches killed during early morning in Boche counter attacks & improving our line. In morning inspected & addressed 57th & 60th Bns near DAOURS. XX In Afternoon went to Corps H.Qs at BERTANGLES was presented to H. M. The KING who invested Gen Monash with K.C.B. & inspected representative detachments of Aust. Div. & war trophies captured in last weeks operations. Afterwards attended conference at which G.O.C. Aust Corps gave us instructions for air operations to take place on the 15th inst. At 8.30 p.m. Conference at D.H.Q attended by Div staff Infy. Bders & B. Majs. C.R.A. C.R.E. A.D.M.S. etc to explain the forthcoming operation & issue preliminary instructions. Augst. 13th Fine day, hazy. In morning to 8th Bde H.Qs at AUBIGNY with G.O.C. inspected 32 31st 30th 29th Bns & addressed them. All looking very fit & well. In Afternoon to new Bde H.Qs. of the 14th Bde near CAIX & 15 Bde at GUILLUACOURT & discussed with Bgdrs future Operation on 15th inst. Also visited 2nd Canadian Div H.Qs. near ROSIERES Saw G.S.O.1. x Inspected 11" Railway Gun that was captured by 31st Bn last Thursdy (sic) it is a wonderful piece of Machinery. Saw L'. Col. PIGGOTT comdg. 11th Tank Bn & others in connection with the operation. Augst. 14th Fine warm day hazy. Good deal shelling on Corps front line liaison Force captured about 200 prisoners in minor operation. In morning to Conference at 15th Bde H.Qs. at GUILLAUCOURT. present 44
