Went to Dentists at CAPPY. teeth in a bad way, must have them seen to on arrival in London. On return to D.H.Q saw G.O.C. 4th Div with regard to relief of 5th by 4th Div. & fixed up all points satisfactorily. Saw 10 prisoners convicted for A.W.L & desertion commuted & suspended all their sentences except in one case. Finished honors & rewards & all other work including reports on operations at 12 midnight. Sept. 9th Squally, fine intervals. X Enemy Aeroplanes close to our D.H.Q in early hours of the morning. Left (with L'. Col Ralph) on leave at 5.45 a.m. arrived after good run at Boulogne at 9.55 a.m. made O/C Troops boat sailed 11/30 arrived Victoria 4/30 pm. met by Wife, Howard & his Wife. Car also from A.I.F H.Qs. Sept. 10th Cold but fine day. In morning to A.I.F. H.Qs saw Gen Griffiths then spent 1 hour having teeth seen to (in very bad state through delay in attention to them) Met L'. Col Peck & L'. Temperley both convalescent & looking pretty bad. Returned to Richmond. Saw Clara in Afternoon. at Sandovers in the evening. Sept. 11 Fine day Met Lady Birdwood at Waterloo Wife with me Midday lunched with Wife at Pall Mall Resturant. (sic) To A.I.F. H.Qs & dentist in Afternoon Dinner with Wife at Pall Mall Restr. in evening. Then went to Gaiety Theatre with Wife in evening to see "Going up" good show & good day.
