Saturday Dec 12th Paraded on wharf 10 15 am entrained train leaving at 12 30 pm arrived Cairo 6 30 pm paraded at siding were then given cup of Cocoa & roll were then given half hour to ramble round caught pyramid Car 9 30 pm Arrived Mena 10 30 pm marched to campsight through sand settled down about midnight. Sunday Dec 13 First thing on awakening we see Pyramids along side us Bands practising on Hill slopes Church parade on Slopes of Hill under Pyramids Obtained leave in afternoon and visited Cairo with Bert Potter Met two more boys, hired a Carriage and travelled right around City. Met Sharples & Hookway in Egyptian Cafe we then had a walk round & saw the sights finished day by paying 30 piastres (6/-) for carriage to drive home reaching there at 10 30 [Page 5]
