22/7/15 All COs summoned to No 4 Sect H Qrs. General Russell,discussed position + gave final instructions positions to be held at all costs - About 400 bombs asked for No 1 outpost - Flares being prepared - also 200 bombs each for A + B Sections Barbed wire entanglements for whole of front, requisitioned for + will be erected tonight by No 1 outpost + A + B sections. Whole plan of defence discussed with Sqdn leaders + they to give me in writing the arrangements now made by them for defence of their posts + see that every officer + man knows absolutely what he has to do + the general scheme. Arrangements made for 2 or 3 extra men to be in each firing post, + with spare rifles in case of jambs through overheating - Requisitioned for 50 extra rifles for this contingency - Turks said to have been reinforced by 100000 men + to make a final decisive attack tonight or tomorrow. No attack launched - Stood to arms 1145 to 0115 + from 0300 to 0430. extra Reinforcements if reqd 3 officers + 100 rank + file from Canterbury MR.
