27 8/15 No 6 SECTION 2 Troops under Lieut BURGESS I.C. reinforce support to firing line during night. Heavy firing maintained throughout night. 28 8/15 No 6 SECTION Above 2 troops withdrawn Lt Col Brazier Noel M. wounded in eye (shrapnel) & is sent to hospital. Major Scott John B assumes command of 10th Regt. Orders issued to 10th Regt to attack line of Turkish trenches approximate NW side of HILL 60 (KAIAJIK AGHALA) about 200 yards in extent dominating our front line of trenches on one side and the VALLEY of ANAFARTA on the other. Major General Sir A. Godley addresses officers @1600 (4pm) & explained that 9th Regiment unsuccessfully assaulted on evening of 27/28 8/15 trenches abandoned by CONNAUGHT RANGERS. He asked us to take and hold them - long distance & close visual reconnaissance is made by officers before dark - General idea to assault in two (2) lines viz:- (1st line) 2 troops = 35 bayonets, A & B Sqdns on right and 2 troops = 45 bayonets C Squadron on left each man carrying 3 sand bags & each section of 4 men taking 10 time fuse bombs. (2nd line) 35 bayonets A & B Squadron on right & 45 bayonets C Squadron on left carrying bomb shovels - O/C Operation - Major Scott JB
