Lieuts Sanderson WC, Kidd T, McBean CH - Capt Robertson HCH, Burgess IC, - Howard - in order right to left 2nd Line Lts Throssell H - Leake - Howard [previous word crossed out] - Sweetapple. Total strength 11 officer 160 bayonets. 29 8/15 HILL 60 (KAIAJIK AGHALA) Assault was launched quietly but with great elan precisely @ 1300 (1AM) & was crowned with success. A number of the enemy were killed in the trenches & remainder driven out. Those retiring were dealt with severely. Casualties were severe during the assault particularly on the left flank C Squadron. Lt McBean attacked three Turks & was killed after accounting for two of the enemy. This officers behaviour has been meritorious throughout the campaign (He was mentioned for gallantry @ QUINNS 30/5/15) and was in the charge on RUSSELLS TOP 7/8/15). Fighting reverted now to the right flank of the trench seized, the continuation of which was strongly held by the enemy. All sand bags were passed along to right flank (2) barricades erected, interval about 10 yards.
