and gossiping on shore Review all the old maids tea tables and old bachelors quadrille parties but to [. /..] that for tittle tattle and so on a passenger ship [...] them all! ---- In the evening I disengaged myself from the deck party and wrote as much as I could remember of dear Johnny's parting line for Miss Harris who was much charmed with them ---- they do a little enter into poetry and Mrs Harris is really fond of it. Wednesday 17 I have again stolen away from the party on deck to make my last additions to this valuable [...] I shall enclose this and send it by Mr Harris who will I believe go on shore early to morrow I have also a letter but shall not send both as one will be only a summary of the other I hope this will go though I fear there is little which will afford interest even to the partial [Page 37]
