beverage which often quenched our thirst as children. The PIne Apple season is just over so we have not many but they are delicious. The oranges are quite green but very nice not at all too acid. Mr. Thornton has bought a beautiful goat and kid for the cabin use so we have now the enjoyment of milk they only cost a guinea We still propose getting a pair from the Cape as the milk is really delicious. The grapes are not natives of this Island but packed in sawdust they preserve their flavour and are very refreshing imported I believe from Spain. Bessey & Lenox have made a sketch of St. Jago and have given a very fine representation of the Island I too took up my pencil but could trace no lines save the following. [Page 42]
