we so often see in paintings. But it passed over very quietly and I only awoke from one of my long dreamless sleeps to be summoned to a 5 o'clock dinner. The evening was passed as usual in quick chats upon the deck nor did we finally retire until eleven o'clock. Saturday 20 We were both very late indeed as I had some uninteresting employment not worthy of words I spent the whole morning in my cabin Since my first appearance I have been writing this. My first volume is now closed. My next will not even be so eventful as this but I feel as if in writing I were discharging a sacred duty therefore I will not neglect it though I exonerate any person from reading more than a page.
