we could for the arrival of visitors Bessy & I seated ourselves with affected calmness and tried to read it would not do. Is not that a shout? surely 'tis a gun No sound however broke the silence of the evening which gradually closed in and yielding to night sent us excited and wearied to our beds "To-morrow will bring forth something" were our last words but to-morrow did not nor Sunday nor Monday morning though we started and trembled at every sound.
