13 Police Station Moora 11/05/11 The Chief Protector Aborigines Perth Sir A native named George Shaw from New Norcia came here on this date and applied for rations and rugs for himself and wife and four young Children and states he is destitute & takes very bad fits and he says he has been ordered rations from your office I would be glad to know if this is so I had a conversation with Mr Lanigan of New Norcia recently and he did not feel inclined to give him rations as he was of opinion the native could work. But I think otherwise from what I saw his arms and legs are very much cut which he says was done whilst in fits. However I think he has been in some trouble at New Norcia causing some of the other natives to become dis- contented with what they were receiving as this family were almost starving I gave one weeks rations and his blankets & shirts yours faithfully John Allisa cons 293 STAMP : ABORIGINES AND FISHERIES DEPARTMENTS 12 MAY 1911
