459/39 115 PH/B 17th April, 1943. The Acting Superintendent Moore River Native Settlement MOGUMBER. Attached is a copy of a communication received from the Acting Matron together with a copy of my reply. I am sorry this subject of Church attendance is com- ing up again. Just why I do not know. My policy has al- ways been clear and friendly towards Sister Eileen in her endeavours and I have always made it clear that all chil- dren should attend Church on Sunday morning. Whilst I am deeply interested in the spiritual and moral background in the training of our native children, I find this constant repetition of Church attendance a little tiresome in view of my many other duties and pro- blems. I have been very patient about this subject and since I am extremely busy in other directions and find my supposed private time is occupied on Departmental business and problems, I trust you will be able to reach a happy settlement of the whole matter with Sister Eileen. It is my wish also that the Acting matron should have access to my correspondence but when she addresses me on policy matters or questions of administration, I wish the correspondence to be initialled or sent on by your good self. Signature COMMISSIONER OF NATIVE AFFAIRS.
