89 M/F 450/39 3rd December, 1941. The Superintendent, Moore River Native Settlement, MOGUMBER. I have received the following letter from the Protector of Natives, Northampton, regarding the Baptism of the children Margaret and John Oxenham. " I have to advise you that I have not yet made contact with Charlie Oxenham with a view of ascer- taining from him if he objects to his children being bap- tised in the Church of England Faith. As far as I know Oxenham's wife was a Roman Catholic and that fact might influence him in the matter." I consider that it will be advisable not to baptise Margaret and John until their father has been interviewed, when I shall then advise you further. COMMISSIONER OF NATIVE AFFAIRS (Stamped/ dated 5/1/42)
