(off Anzac Cove) Sunday Apl 25th 1915. Tran MINNESWASKA. Roused at 4 p.m. for early breakfast dark. No sound of musketry yet from the 3rd. Inf. Bde, the force covering our landing. 4.40 Rifle fire commenced just getting light. 6 a.m. Enemy commenced firing on ships. Some shells fell within 150 yds of Minneswaska. Launches & boats returned bringing some dead & wounded. Watching shell falling on our men ashore. We have not landed at the place where it was intended but to the north of it. 9 a.m. Left ships for Beach with Staff Anderson Nicholson & Parker under shell fire & immediately followed the Infantry up the steep hills facing sea to find out the situation & find positions for guns.
