Monday 26th - Apl. No Guns arrived until nearly noon when two more for Johnson were emplaced near Beach 224.R.4. & got into action. Col Rosenthal landed last night. Shell & Rifle fire heavy all day, have shelter up a Gulley. but likely to get washed out if it rains. Tuesday 27th. Apl. In new Dugout facing sea. Shell falling among Shipping Boats marvellous how they escape. Naval Officer sitting talking to Col Ryan killed with S. Bullet in brain. 3 more Guns emplaced on our extreme right & helped in no small measure to defeat attack of Turks on right. Col. Johnstone wounded in ankle slightly under Shell & rifle fire all day & night. Doing all I can to get Guns & Ammunition ashore in case bad [Page] 6.
