Bn. was shot by one his own sentries early this morning or last night he was coming in from outside lines & failed to respond to the Sentry's Challenge. Our loss in Officers has been severe poor Col McLaurien with his Bd Major, Major Irving were Killed the third day we were ashore. Col. Clarke of the 12th was killed first day.
