violent pains & general debility its the first spell he has had since we landed in April - Jeffs has also been allowed to come. Where I wonder shall I pull up. I admit Col HOWSE was right. I have just reached the limit of my endurance. I am ill Thank God I can leave with a clear conscience. everything is square & ready for the next man to carry on. Gen CHAUVAL & all my friends have been kindness itself. Gen WHITE came up to see me said very nice things about me. that I need have no reluctance in going I had done splendidly. I was certain to get the C.B. - shall I? Evan came to see me for an hour Monday afternoon. It is now 6 p.m. & we have just anchored in MUDROS Harbour Nov 17: Arrived at ALEXANDRIA after a good passage at noon Saty. Nov. 13th. I spent nearly all my time in bed though & was pretty bad at times. they were very good to me on board. Lieut. MOFFATT was my Doctor. Once reaching Alexandria we were transferred in a Hospital Train very comfortably fitted to CAIRO where I now am at No 1 Aust. General Hospital: the huge Building erected by Belgians some years 117
