I have been out to the Artillery Camp at the OASIS. (Nov 24th) & met all the Officers. I want to inspect the lines Saturday morning. General Spends came to see me last Monday, 21st inst & asked me about employing Sweetland as adjutant at the Artillery training camp. I told him what had happened with regard to Sweetland. I did not think it would be a good thing & moreover Sweetland has been struck off the Div Artillery. 'X' I discussed the method of Training our Drivers & Reinforcements & promised to arrange exchanges of officers so that there would always if possible be an experienced Officer of the Rank of Captain there from the front to assist in the training. Training. It was also arranged subject to approval at Anzac that all Artillery Balance Codes & the Div Amm Col be kept as near as possible up to strength & that I ask for what Officer's N.C.O.s & men I require in detail. 'X' On all sides here, both from Doctors, nurses & from personal observance I am struck with the shirking that is going on. The Doctors know it but in most cases can't prove it. 120
