reason being given. I found from Capt WEBB that this had been done owing to LORRAINE'S generally unsatisfactory conduct - by G.O.C. Base CAIRO by virtue of powers delegated to him by G.O.C. in C. & under Reg A.A.183. LORRAINE wanted to appeal I informed him I did not think he could but I would find out. Disbanded heavy Battery. I congratulated officers & men on the splendid work they had done at ANZAC which had been appreciated by all. Left for SERAPEUM to preside at G.C.M. at 1.5 train arrived 2.50 p.m. Saw Bde & Btty Commds arrive about 5 p.m. 9 p.m. saw G.O.C. to find out if we could not get men & Horses from D.A.C. as we wanted them. gave him instances of how Officers & men were taken away from us by Authorities at Base & given jobs other than artillery. I also asked for instructions as to having Depot est. for Reinforcements by D.A.C. & asked if that was to be discontinued or what was to happen as Guns & equipment were being taken away. Showery during day & night. Feby 10th SERAPEUM - presided at G.C. Martial from 11 a.m.until 4. tried case of Lieut MOAG..1st Bn on charge of drunkeness. Could not take next case Lieut --- 11th Bn as prosecution had not been appointed L. Col Rosenthal reported in evening Artillery reconnaissance going satisfactorily expected to complete Friday night or Saturday morning.
