Feby 16. Office & routine work. Left by 1305 train to ISMAILIA to discuss with Bdgr Gen. Gen Staff ANZAC the proposition the 1st Aust Div Artillery were to supply of Officers N.C.Os & men for new Div Art for 4th & 5th Divs. Brought invention of Lt Col Cox Taylors for portable sand tyres to notice of Gen Birdwood who instructed me to take necessary steps for thorough tests. I informed Bgd Gen Gen Staff of this - & he told me to do what I considered necessary that the test was to be under my control & direction, & to report to him. I asked it of Gen White if there was anything against Major Anderson owing to him having recd no reward for his meritorious service & was assured no. they were fully recognized . I also reported on number of our men taken from our units when they leave Hospital etc at Cairo. Feby 17th 0900 met Bd & Batty Comdrs & explained to them scheme for furnishing new Bdes & others for new div units. engaged all day in arranging for same. Visited our picquet at Village [Page] 13.
