Also inspecting "M-T. Mortar" Batts & instructing them in their application of fire. Saw results of Bombardment of 30th ult - huge craters made by Enemy minnewafers - I think in many cases burial ground turned upside down many of our poor fellows must have been buried alive. Showery in morning afternoon cold. June 6th (Wet morning fine afternoon) Inspected Wagon lines 2nd F.Art Bde & 23rd Batt. Saw O/C 2nd F. Art Bde at Left Group H.Qs. June 7th Inspecting positions & emplacements for M.T. Mortars in Left Group with S.O.T.Ms & O/C Art left Group. - Showery day June 8th Inspecting new Gun emplacements for Section of 18 pd on our Right, in 38th Div Area - also decided to try to emplace Howitzer Batt near same spot. (C/O Art Right Group accompanied me) fine day June 9th At LA MOTTE to see B.G.G.S. re emplacing How Batt. in 38th Area to enfilade enemy trenches opposite our right Group - Also asked him for Tel. Comm for M-T Mortars in their permanent positions which he promised to try & procure.
