Nov. 4th - Fine day, bad visibility. In morning church parade 59th Bn & representative det'l from units of 8th & 15th Bdes. to witness presentation of Decorations Medals & Ribbons by Corps Comdr (Gen BIRDWOOD) he in his address afterwards 'X' thanked Gen HOBBS Bgdrs & 'X' Officers of & O.Rs. of the 5th Aust Div for winning the most successful but difficult battles in which the 1st Anzac Corps or Australian Troops had yet taken part in (ie.POLYGON WOOD.) 14th Bde. moved today from WIPPENHOEK to BERQUIN areas. Nov. 5th fine day. To 15th Bde in morning. Saw Bde Comdr. & staff all well. Went to Concert by 59th Bn in evening. very fair show. In Afternoon went to BELGIAN CHATEAU to see tests of Mule Duck Walk. that which I proposed wire with MG wire successful now propose to use it. Nov. 6th dull blustery day some rain Canadians attacked this morning at 6.a.m. unconfirmed report at 11.a.m. that they have gained Paschendaele. found out afterwards this correct. visited H.Qs. 8th Infy Bde. WIPPENHEOK [WIPPENHOEK] area, then 30th Bn H.Qs. met Maj. BUSHELL, then went to 29th Bn met Capt. CATE Comg Bn tempy. also met Lieut STANKYE there.
