Dec. 11th Fine, fair visibility. In morning inspected Right Sub Sector A/- Bgdr. L'. Col. CLARKE with me - visited 29th & 31st Bn H.Qs. saw both L'. Cols PURSER & TOLL. - all seemed satisfactory impressed on them the necessity for pushing on with wiring. Inspected several S. points in support & reserve line. Bgd. Gen. TIVEY Comdg. 8th Bde. returned from sick leave. 'X' At 4/30 p.m. at invitation of 14th Bde Committee I visited their Club at KEMMEL afterwards spoke to Officers & proposed to make a Divisional Club a permanent Institution & appointed a committee to report. 'X' got Wire stating Mervyn had been selected for Indian Army. Dec. 12th Fine mild day, fair visibility. 'X' Sat for 3/4 hour in morning for the Official Div Artist. In Afternoon attended meeting called to consider advisability of Divisional Club. Dec. 13th Fine mild foggy, drizzle in evening Visited 15th Bde H.Qs G.O.C. Gen ELLIOTT accompanied me to Bn H.Qs. 57-58-60-59th Bns. Everything appeared to be in good order & satisfactory. At saw G.O.C. 14th Bde at KEMMEL re appointment of L'. Col McCONACHY to his Bde. 14th Bde group left for SAMER area. In Afternoon went to 1st Anzac Corps H.Qs. to discuss various matters with Corps Comdr. Dec. 14th Fine indifferent visibility. 2nd Bde. relieved 14th Bde last night. very quiet night. I visited H.Q. 15th Bde in afternoon & met G.Os.C. of 15th & 2nd Bdes & talked matters over with regard to area. General HEANE seemed to have got the hang of affairs [Page] 140
