to Camp near H.Q to see & speak to raiding teams. 57th O/C raid Capt. EDGAR O/C Assault L'. FALCONER & L'. MUTER. We went to BRISTOL CASTLE & saw & spoke to other Raiding party. 59th O/C L'. BINDER Also visited 14th Bde H.Qs. with reference to forthcoming Raid & gas attack. Also spoke at 15th Bde H.Qs to Gen. ELLIOTT about raids on night of 13/14 & arranged further Artillery co operation etc. In evening attended Div Concert Coys. Entertainment at KEMMEL. March. 13. Still another beautiful day, vis indifft. Inspected with C.R.A. Div Amm Col. near DRANOUTRE (2 Sections) the result was very satisfactory & great credit is due to Maj. Thornthwaite the new O/C. L'. Col. Brennan & Capt. Blackall A.A.M.C came here to dinner to night, both with 1st Div F. Amb. March 14th Wet raw morning 'X' bad vis At 3.30 am. this morning we sent over [...] after 2 min prep. of intense Art fire. 2 raiding parties against the Boche opposite our front. 1 party secured 2 prisoners & killed 10 Boches. this was the 58th Bn the other 60th Bn party brought back 4 prisoners. All normal identifications our cas. 3 slightly wounded. In morning Gen Birdwood called. I explained to him (& to Gen White by Tel) how I wished to re distribute 6 ([...]) A.F. Art Bde. to cover my front pointing out necessity of using 3 Sects for enfilading front in order to compensate for thin fire from 18 pds on S.O.S lines (only 1 18 pd per 120 X Again pointed out this weakness & want of more M.G. fire to both Gen Birdwood & Gen White during the evening.
