Capt. Greenlees gave me a Report on Casemate & I arranged to visit Glasgow on Wednesday next to see it. June 8th Fine day. Spent quietly at Richmond with my Wife. June 9th Dull little rain in Afternoon Sunday morning church with Dorothy In afternoon to a very enjoyable concert at Albert Hall by Sir T. Beecham Concert Coy. June 10th Fine day. Car came from H.Qs. A.I.F. saw General Griffiths about various matters. Examined at No 3 London Gen Hospital for Eyes by Dr. JOYNT. got reading glasses corrected but he stated eye trouble due to want of rest & change. gave me a report which I left with A.D.M.S. A.I.F. H.Qs. Lunched with Sir Newton Moore, Mr. Fisher & Gen Griffiths came in & lunched with us & Mr. Fisher insisted on paying for lunch. All afternoon at Wandsworth having my eyes attended to. X June 11th Fine day. Car came for me, took me to opticians to order glasses. Called twice at Ministry of Munitions unable to see Sir E. Moir but got him on Tel. he stated that at gas trial my Casemate Gas found to be 1.4 after firing 1000 rds. danger point 1.5 but he thinks a new device found to effectively deal with gas trouble. Saw Gen Griffith about various matters. Saw A.D.M.S. L'. Col. Anderson & also L'. Col. Maudsley. they prescribed a tonic for me. Saw L'. Col. Peck looking better but not ready to return. Saw Major Smith my D.A.Q.M.G. & gave him extra days leave. X Saw one L'. Cuzens who is ordered to be returned to Aust as useless. cant interfere. O. J H [Page] 13
