to see how best I could help them in their work etc. Had conversation with Gen Rawlinson by Tea told him Corps alright. he instructed me to wire Corps Comdr. that he appd of his leave being extended until 27 inst. Ascertained by Tel things alright in 2 & 3rd Divs. Oct. 19th Fine day. In morning to 15th Bde H.Qs. with Gen Elliott visited Bde School & Bn H.Qs. of 57th 58th & 59th Bns & saw C/Os Gen Gellibrand Comg 3rd Aust Div to lunch also Major Officer. Interview with G.O.C. 3rd Div re. 42nd Bn which still refuses to obey orders advised him to take similar action to what I had taken with regard to 29th Bn. Signed honors & rewards Corps. (immediates) which Maj. Officer had brought & went into other Corps matters. Afterwards visited L'. Col Mason Comg 5th M.G. Bn & Gen Tivey G.O.C. 8th Bde who reports 29th Bn entirely & unconditionally surrendered this morning expressed their contrition & went over to 32nd Bn Oct. 20th Drizzly all day. In morning Army Comd rang up to say that 1st & 4th Div would be required in the line about 27th inst I rang up B.G.G.S. Corps about it & wrote to Corps Comdr I also let G.O.C. 4th Div. & G.S.O.1 1st Div know. later on I saw Gen McLagan comg. 4th Div who called here 77.
