Xmas eve we retired late leaving Len in my cabin. Mr Shenton kindly gave me up his for the night as I could not (though really in excellent form again) get up into Len's hammock. He therefore proposed an exchange & I gladly accepted it. I cannot say how I slept the excitement of the day had really been too much for us and yet it was long before I slept. It was very rough and the wind blew tremendously and the things fell about so! The next day Xmas Day we had prayers in the cuddy everyone attending except Lenox who had been bled early in the morning. We rose nevertheless charged for the folk at peace with all mankind. Lenox had quite a day in his cabin even Mrs. Leake paid him a long visit. We thought of home a great deal but would not even the [...] do the same? "All anxiety [Page 15]
